The Short Film Festival 2026
The Short Film Festival organized by the Vidiyal Image Media Club was held on 11th May 2026 at the Vidiyal Training Centre, Muthupatti. The festival created a vibrant space for children to experience cinema not just as entertainment, but as a medium to think, question, discuss, and reflect.
Throughout the day, children watched a variety of short films and actively engaged in discussions, sharing their opinions, interpretations, and feelings about each film. The sessions encouraged children to critically view media, understand storytelling techniques, and appreciate meaningful cinema.
The highlight of the festival was the collective debate and discussion held at the end of the screenings, where children passionately spoke about the films they watched. After thoughtful conversations and discussions, the children selected “Ayul Dandanai” as the Best Short Film of the Day.
The festival concluded with children leaving not just as viewers, but as young critics and thoughtful audiences who learned how cinema can spark conversations, emotions, and social awareness.
