Election of the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement
The Election of the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement (VCRM) was held on 21st June 2026 at the Vidiyal Training Centre, Muthupatti. The election followed a parliamentary model, enabling children to experience a democratic system of governance and leadership.
Children first elected their Forum Leaders from their respective Children’s Forums. These elected Forum Leaders then formed the electoral body and cast their votes to elect the President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement.
The parliamentary-style election provided children with firsthand experience of democratic processes, including representation, leadership, accountability, and informed decision-making. Candidates presented their vision for the movement, after which the Forum Leaders voted through a fair and transparent election process.
The programme strengthened children’s understanding of democracy while encouraging responsible leadership and active participation. The newly elected office bearers will lead the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement in representing the voices of children and promoting child rights across the organisation.
