Observation Visit – Madurai Institute of Social Sciences
On 20 August 2026, 23 second-year Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) students from the Madurai Institute of Social Sciences visited Sakthi–Vidiyal at Muthupatti as part of their observation visit.
Mr. Jesley Priyadharshan facilitated an orientation session for the students, introducing them to the history and evolution of Vidiyal, its formation, vision, and approach to child rights and community-based work. The session also covered the concept of child rights, the strategies and approaches adopted by Vidiyal in working with children and communities, and the organisation’s efforts towards child participation and protection.
The students were also introduced to Vidiyal’s various publications and digital media initiatives, as well as the Vidiyal Child Rights Movement (VCRM) and its role in promoting awareness and action on child rights. The session provided the students with an opportunity to understand the practical application of social work principles in the field of child rights and community development.
The visit helped the students gain a broader understanding of the functioning of a child rights organisation and the various strategies used to translate social work values and principles into practice.
