The International Day of the Girl Child was celebrated on October 11th and 12th at the Vidiyal Training Centre with the theme “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis.” This two-day event was an entirely girls’ and women-led program, celebrating the power, voice, and leadership of girls.

On the first day, the participants visited the Thiruparankundram Hillock in Madurai, where they enjoyed sessions, fun activities, and songs amidst nature. After a delightful lunch, they returned to the Vidiyal Training Centre to continue the sessions. The program was anchored by Dr. G. Sharmila Jim, Ms. J. Angeline Devapriya, and Ms. P. Preethi, with dedicated support from Vidiyal’s women volunteers and staff.

The celebration continued on the second day with more sessions and engaging activities, fostering confidence and leadership among the girls. The event concluded with gifts and certificates, marking a joyful and empowering end to the two-day celebration.
